Drill presses are found in almost every workshop. Most people only use their drill press for drilling holes, but this video shows that it can be used for several other machining operations. Rent this video and learn to use your drill press for tasks you never thought of before. Save money and improve you accuracy at the same time.

This should be required viewing for anyone with a drill press. Good camera work and lighting. Rudy is a great speaker and teacher. Covers the basics. Very good, although I was hoping for more about milling on a drill press. Jose Rodriguez' DVD is better for that though.
Decent video by a clearly knowledgable person. I'm a beginner so I learned a lot about how to use my drill press. It's certainly no frills and fluff.
A great video. Covers every aspect of using your drill press for various purposes; goes into great detail about setup and clamping options, various bits, chucks, techniques - really thorough. The included tables of bit-size for each thread is invaluable. My only quibble was with the photography, which was usually excellent - often, when he would bring the drill down onto the work, his arm would obscure the work - could have been solved by some pre-planning or moving the camera occasionally. Otherwise, 10 stars.
A little on the slow and simple side, but Rudy was highly regarded and everything he said is worth listening to. This would be a real nice beginners video. I plan on making a copy of his tapping handle for the drill press, could have used it many times.
This DVD was full of information and makes the drill press a much more useful tool in my book. I would highly recommend it.
Top of my list of MUST SEE DVDs.
A really top flight instruction on the basics of Drill Bits, Drill Presses, Drilling and Tapping.
Also addresses holding work down, reaming and safety.
He knows his stuff and explains it so perfectly, you come away knowing more! He also does not state "opinions". He sticks to facts.
Rent it today, you won't be sorry.
This is a basic introduction to using a drill press. I found it to be quite good for giving a solid foundation of the techniques needed to safely and properly use a drill press to perform basic drilling, reaming, tapping and milling. Though I was familiar with a lot of the material I did come away with some additional knowledge of the material. I thought it was worthwhile and would recommend it.
Really a basic OVERVIEW of most of the uses of the METAL working on the DRILL PRESS, w/ esp. good info. on reaming, and vices.
I was hoping for more DETAILED DEMONSTRATIONS (several were included), but that was not the intent here.
There are other tasks the drill press can be used for that were not mentioned; a live/dead center set up can make it even more like a lathe.
I think it would be best if "part 2 & 3" were available w/ more in depth demonstrations of special tasks, or milling projects.
I highly recommend MARK DUGINSKE's Woodworking videos on using the Bandsawn, for further understanding of the parts and functionality that keep it running true.
Plenty of practical tips and tricks along with the basics. I would consider other titles by the same talent.
A lot of talking about the subject. Very good video for someone who knows little about drilling tapping or milling. Video demonstrations were well presented. Am going to watch more.
Next best thing to having a teacher work with you. Watch an expert actually perform these operations and discuss in conversational style what he thinks is important. Rudy Kouhoupt was both a craftsman and a natural born teacher. Would you pay ten bucks to sit in a class by a master?
Just got my first drill press and thought I knew enough to jump right in! I'm very glad that I watched this video before opening the box.
The information is presented with good video work and the workpiece is easily seen. The explanations are simple and clear to understand.
The greatest value to me is the line of accessories for holding the workpiece. I knew that I really wanted something like the X-Y table, but I didn't know that was available.
Thanks. - - -Jim
As usual Rudy does an excellent job of explaining in a clear and simple manner. The subject is well covered.
This was my first of many DVDs I plan to rent, While the video was informative the delivery/presentation needed allot of work. It was all I could do to stake awake while watching. The content was excellent however presentation is poor. But all in all it was worth the rental price.
Presentation: I would rate this as poor
Content: The subject matter was excellent
